Thank you for choosing a piece from Rod Richardson Photography. With a little care and proper display, your artwork can be enjoyed for many years to come.

Each medium has slightly different care requirements. Use the recommendations below to keep your artwork looking its best.

Fine Art & Matted Prints

Fine art prints should be handled carefully and preferably by the edges to avoid fingerprints or damage to the printed surface.

Keep prints away from excessive moisture, heat, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. If your print is not already framed, I recommend framing it behind glass or acrylic for protection.

When storing an unframed print, keep it flat in its protective sleeve and avoid placing heavy or abrasive objects directly against it.

Framed Photography

Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth or feather duster to clean the frame.

For glass or acrylic glazing, apply cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying directly onto the frame. This helps prevent liquid from reaching the edges of the photograph or mat.

Display framed artwork away from excessive humidity and prolonged direct sunlight whenever possible.

Metal Prints

Metal prints are durable and easy to maintain.

For routine cleaning, use a soft cloth or feather duster. Do not use household chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or abrasive cloths on the printed surface.

The aluminum substrate will not rust.

Although metal prints are durable, they are intended for indoor display. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause printed images to fade, so outdoor display is not recommended.

Hanging Your Metal Print

Your metal print includes a rear mounting system with a cleat and built-in level for easier installation.

Secure the wall cleat using fasteners appropriate for your particular wall type. Once securely mounted, carefully lower the artwork onto the cleat and verify that it is fully seated before releasing it.

For larger pieces, having a second person assist with installation is recommended.

Canvas Gallery Wraps

Remove dust using a clean, soft, dry cloth or feather duster.

Avoid household cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials. Canvas should also be protected from excessive moisture and prolonged direct sunlight.

When handling your canvas, hold it by the frame whenever possible rather than pressing against the printed surface.

Choosing the Best Location

For all fine art photography, a few simple considerations can help preserve its appearance:

• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight.
• Avoid locations with excessive heat or humidity.
• Keep artwork away from fireplaces, heating vents, and other strong heat sources.
• Make sure hanging hardware is properly secured for the size and weight of the artwork.

Normal indirect daylight and typical indoor lighting are perfectly appropriate for displaying and enjoying your photography.
