The Work Begins to Take Shape

With the exhibition drawing closer, the preparation has entered a more focused phase.

The list of photographs has narrowed. Images that once lived only as possibilities are beginning to feel certain, while others—strong in their own right—have been set aside for another time. This part of the process requires both confidence and restraint. Not every photograph belongs in this moment, and learning to recognize that has been an important part of the work.

As the selections come together, the exhibition is starting to feel less abstract. The photographs are no longer considered individually, but in relation to one another—how one image leads into the next, how light, tone, and subject shift across the sequence. The goal is a quiet, intentional flow that invites viewers to slow down and look closely.

Attention has also turned to presentation. Decisions around print size, paper, matting, and spacing are being finalized. These choices are subtle, but they matter. They shape the way each photograph is experienced and help maintain a sense of balance throughout the exhibition.

There is a sense of commitment now. Once a photograph is selected for exhibition, it carries a different weight. It becomes part of a shared experience rather than a private one. That transition—from personal observation to public viewing—has been both grounding and humbling.

There are still details to resolve, but the foundation is set. The work is taking shape, quietly and steadily.

More soon.
